Sparkling Summer in the City
This was the Summer of Travel. For most of us, we have been patiently awaiting the removal of Covid restrictions around the world and re-emerge back into the days of travel. And re-emerge we did.
Our first time back in Paris since leaving Europe two years ago. Summer in Paris is full of vibrancy, from a vast array of rooftop terrace dining to a plethora of cultural activities, oh how I have missed European summer living.
One of our favourite al fresco rooftop dining spots is Le Girafe which boasts expansive views of the Eiffel Tower. Whether daytime, early or later evening seating you will still have the best views of this iconic Parisian landmark. Though if you do want to be surrounded in sparkly shimmering lights, the early or later evening seating is a must.
Aside from the stunning views, Le Girafe also offers one of the best seafood selections in town. Opt for Le Plateau Girafe, a grand Seafood tower with Mediterranean Blue Lobster, Langoustines, Oysters, Shrimp, Whelks and more. There are of course smaller seafood platters to choose from, but when in Paris....why not choose La Grand Dame?
Other noteworthy seafood dishes to try are the Daurade Cru, Sea Bream Tartare with Dashi and Lime and the fragrant Yellowtail Sashimi topped with Roasted Sesame Oil and Ponzu.
The artichoke salad was a refreshing accompaniment to all of the seafood dishes. Made from thinly sliced purple artichokes and aged 24 month parmesan, the pairing offered a nice twist to the traditional artichoke salad.
If you are looking for something sweet to top off the evening, les chouquettes a la creme vanillee are a must. Tiny soft melt in your mouth cream puffs filled with vanilla cream. Oh what a treat!
We were fortunately able to secure the early dinner seating and witnessed the clear blue transition to a crimson pink at sunset and into the dark night sky surrounded by the shimmering lights of the Eiffel Tower. It felt like we were immersed within an artist's painting of the Parisian skyline.
If you are planning a trip to Paris, dining at Le Girafe is a must. Remember to book well in advance to secure yourself a lovely spot on the terrace.
