With travel restrictions still in effect in Hong Kong, we are certainly longing for a summer escape and reminisce fondly of the long summer lunches on the Mediterranean.

A weekend jaunt to the Riviera was something we very much looked forward to when living in the UK.  Luckily we are able to find a small piece of the Riviera to escape to in Hong Kong at La Petite Maison.  La Petite Maison serves light and refreshing Niçoise and French Mediterranean cuisine and focuses on high quality seafood and ingredients.

The dining room is laid-back chic and charming with a quirky contemporary art collection.

There are so many delicious dishes to choose from on both the a la carte and the Déjeuner D'affaires menu.  We opted to share a selection of starters in addition to the Déjeuner D'affaires menu since we were not able to decide. A complete case of analysis paralysis.

The first starter was the Poulpe finement tranche, the most thinly sliced Octopus lightly pressed together and drizzled in lemon oil.  I could have happily had a few plates of this lovely dish on my own.

POULPE FINEMENT TRANCHÉ

Next up was the Veal Stuffed Mediterranean Vegetables (Petit Farcis Nicois) served with a tomato puree and hint of Mediterranean spices.

PETIT FARCIS NIÇOIS

Another lovely starter was the Carpaccio de Seriole, fresh melt-in-your-mouth slices of Yellowtail Carpaccio garnished with cucumber, green onion and micro leaves in olive oil.  This dish paired nicely with the Legras & Haas "Intuition" Brut, Cote des Blancs.

CARPACCIO DE SÉRIOLE

Once we saw Les Escargots on the menu, we had to have them.  Buttery garlic goodness which we soaked up with some French baguette.

ESCARGOTS DE BOURGOGNE

Another dish that caught our eye was the Grilled Chilean White Bass.  Light, fluffy yet tender pieces of white fish that easily separated from each other with a simple touch of the fork.  Another melt in your mouth dish to savour.  We also ordered a side dish of the Haricots Verts to accompany the Sea Bass and were not disappointed with the very buttery fine green beans.

The sea bass paired well with the 2019 Riesling 'Hospices', Domaine Neumeyer from Alsace.  The Riesling had good minerality and fragrance.

BAR DU CHILI GRILLÉ

We finished off the meal and shared the Vanilla Creme Brulee which was simply divine.  I would certainly come back to La Petite Maison time and time again for a little escape to the French Riviera.  Chic and relaxing vibe, great service and beautifully presented and tasty dishes.
