Easter long weekend in Dorset means a visit to celebrity chef Rick Stein's Sandbanks restaurant for succulent British seafood. With views overlooking Poole Harbour, the dining room offers a relaxed lunch setting to sample the finest British seafood.
The Hot Shellfish dish is my absolute favourite. Enjoy with a side portion of chips to soak up the fragrant garlic and lemon sauce which envelopes each sumptuous piece of the Razor clam, Orkney scallop, oyster, whelk, lobster and langoustine on the plate.
One of Rick's most favourite and signature dishes is the Indonesian Seafood Curry, inspired by his travels through Bali, Indonesia, as seen on his travel show Far Eastern Odyssey. Ginger and galangal are two of the special ingredients he enjoys using to create this tasty dish with fresh sea bass, cod and prawns, served with fluffy basmati rice and green beans.
In addition to the vast selection of raw oysters from Jersey, Morecambe Bay, and Marennes D’Oleron, France, the fried oysters are also a good choice. Lightly fried oysters in tempura batter are topped with a fresh lime and soy mignonette
Rick's Singapore Chilli Crab is also one not to be missed. A whole Cornish crab stir-fried with garlic, ginger, chilli and coriander. It does take a bit of work to fully deconstruct, but worth the effort in order to savour each delicious morsel of crab.
You can easily spend an entire afternoon here enjoying the beautiful views and gorgeous seafood, which we did that Easter Sunday.
