Snugly tucked away along the Harbour
Snugly tucked away along the Lake Ontario waterfront in Port Credit, you will find Snug Harbour Bar & Grill. Boasting expansive water views from its patio, Snug Harbour is a lovely spot for an alfresco lunch or afternoon drinks.
Since its opening in 1996, brothers Paul, Andy and Roy have owned and carefully managed its day to day operations and have seen Port Credit mature into the bustling neighbourhood that it is today.
Head Chef Tim Gojmerac oversees the kitchen and curates the many wonderful seafood dishes on the menu. From the Little Neck Clam Chowder, Blue Crab Cakes to its renowned Seafood Bouillabaisse and Seafood Pescatore, it certainly does not disappoint.
When oysters are on the menu one certainly has to oblige. A small tasting of the Prince Edward Island Malpeques please to start! And of course paired with a nice glass of Tawse Riesling.
And now onto the Seafood Bouillabaisse with heaps of PEI mussels, east coast scallops and shrimp, little neck clams and an assortment of local fish, all soaked in a rich roasted tomato fennel broth. The fennel enhanced the fragrance of the broth against the sweetness from the seafood.
Another one of the favourites is the Seafood Pescatore. Linguini with East Coast scallops, tiger shrimp, red onion, chili peppers, and tomatoes enveloped in a rich creamy lobster sauce. Oh that Lobster cream sauce, I can still taste all of that savoury goodness. Nom nom nom....
One of the specials of the day was a Blackened Seabass. Typically grilled and served with a lemon butter sauce, our waitress recommended the Blackened style for the seabass. The cajun spices added a nice kick to the grilled white fish.
There was an abundance to choose from on the dessert menu from the Chocolate Bourbon Pecan Pie to the Taffy Apple Cheesecake. We were quite full so opted for a Dark Chocolate and Raspberry Tartufo to share. I probably could have managed one dessert on my own though but wisely decided against it.
It was certainly a lovely afternoon at Snug Harbour. If you're looking for a casual spot with good service, water views and a nice selection of seafood on the menu, Snug Harbour Bar & Grill is your place.
