What a delightful surprise. Hidden in the back lanes of kitschy seaside town Brighton, you will find a 27 seat dining space brimming with culinary energy.
With only 16 wonderful dishes on the menu, each one is unique expressing great depth in flavor using simple ingredients but executed with complexity.
Owner and Head Chef Michael Bremner, formerly of Due South and Food for Friends, creates a menu which embodies sophisticated flavours, leading-edge techniques and laid back presentation.
64 degrees is named after the "house egg", bathed at 64 degrees precisely, featured in one of its signature dishes.
Request for one of the stools on the pass to watch the chefs prepare your food whilst chatting to them about the ingredients or how it was prepared.
One of our favourite dishes was the Mackerel ceviche with pomegranate, brazil nut and green apple. The citrus dressing perfectly complemented and cut through the mackerel's oiliness.

Sea bream with oyster, vitelotte and sea veg
A lovely mix in texture with the crispiness of the fish skin and the smoothness of the sea veg.
Potato knodel, cabbage, smoked butter
This was a tasty little number. Little toasty logs of pan fried potato with a soft and warm centre accompanied with emulsified smoked butter and lightly charred savoy cabbage.
Bone marrow, whelk, parsley, sourdough
What magnificent, rich and intense flavours married into one brilliant dish! The bone marrow was roasted to perfection pairing well with the succulent pieces of whelk adorned atop.
Textures of chocolate
The name of the dish alone was irrisistable even before delving into the different layers of chocolate. White chocolate ice cream, dark chocolate ganache, caramel honeycomb and dark cocoa hot chocolate.
All of the dishes were simply sublime. We will most definitely return to try more of the signature dishes we weren't able to fit into our bellies this time. House egg, cucumber, goats cheese and the Chicken Wings, blue cheese, kimchi.
We are looking forward to our next visit.
