A mouth-watering seafood counter lured our eyes across the crowded Plaza Bib Rambla. Freshly caught langoustine, spider crab, razor clams, Andaluscian red shrimp, scallops, giant octopus and many more crustacean delights awaited us at Cunini restaurant.

Cunini is regarded as one of the top local seafood restaurants in Granada. Enjoy complimentary seafood tapas with each drink you order in the bar area or more delicate seafood dishes in the sit-down restaurant out back.

For starters, we began with the luscious Cigalas langoustines grilled to perfection.

Quisquillas, succulent and sweet shrimp from Motril on the coast of Granada

We looked forward to trying the Galician seafood delicacy Percebes, Goose barnacles for the first time. Our waiter kindly showed us how to properly open them up for a taste. These odd-looking creatures still remain a highly sought after crustacean in Northern Spain. To this day, fishermen continue to meet in the middle of the night in Barizo, a small port in Galicia to head for small islands lying off the coastline to search for goose barnacles on the rocks admist the roaring and crashing waves.

Navajas, grilled razor clams

Almejas, succulent raw clams

Seafood Caldereta (seafood rice) with Necora (velvet crab), Berberechos (cockles), Mejillones (mussels), Almejas (clams) and various Andaluscian fish

One of the tastiest seafood rice dishes ever tasted, and paired well with an Albarino from Rias Baxas.

To finish the meal, we ended with a traditional Cassata, a tutti frutti style ice cream with a chocolate layer.
