As the weather heats up, I am seriously longing for the summer days lounging at the beautiful beach clubs of Mykonos. Whether it be Nammos, Scorpios or Alemagou you simply can't go wrong. Though Scorpios and Alemagou are certainly my favourites - sea, sand, seafood and chilled out beach vibes, what more could you ask for?

Scorpios

Scorpios is located on a sun-drenched southern tip of Mykonos with completely unobstructed views of the Cycladic coastline. A location like no other, with perfect sunset views. Whether you come to Scorpios to enjoy sunset cocktails on the beach or a lovely family-style meal at the beachfront open-air, open-plan restaurant you will not want to leave. Sunset rituals begin daily around 6:30pm and you will simply just want to sit back, enjoy the music and take in the beautiful views with a tipple or two.

Chef Alexis Zopas is at the helm of Scorpios' kitchen and focuses on carefully sourced ingredients with Greek provenance with a blend of Mediterranean and Oriental influences. Chef Zopas' ethos can be neatly summed up with these inspiring words, "I wouldn’t say that I chose a profession, but rather a lifestyle. A culinary lifestyle that allows me to express myself, to feel part of a community, to be creative, and live an exciting life."
Dishes on the menu are meant to be shared family-style. We started with a Taramas which is a smooth creamy cod roe topped with bottarga.
Larger format dishes included an assortment of seafood and grilled fish. You can't really go wrong with any of the fresh seafood and fish on the menu, especially in this setting. The grilled Mediterranean seabass and wood-fired Tiger prawns proved to be a hit.

The prawns are grilled in garlic oil, fresh coriander, smoked paprika and chili. We ordered a side of the Burnt Corn, which is served with a delicious spicy BBQ butter.

The Calamarata Pasta was simply divine with morsels of sea urchin, shrimp and squid, tossed in an emulsion of chili, garlic and white wine. The pasta was cooked perfectly al dente.

For dessert, we ordered a contemporary take on a traditional Mediterranean dessert, the Galactoboureko. This deconstructed version is served with bergamot cream, salted caramel ice cream and crispy phylo pastry.

Following a long lunch we moved over to the cliffside lounge area for our afternoon and sunset tipple. Scorpios is easily one of the best sunset view areas on Mykonos.

Alemagou
Nestled right on Tarsanas beach in Ftelia is the boho haven Alemagou, a chic yet rustic beachfront bar and restaurant.

With its relaxed vibe, Alemagou is one of my favourite spots to unwind in Mykonos. With soft sand between your toes, a glass of rose in hand and uninterrupted sea views, Alemagou has the perfect rustic and welcoming vibe to recharge and relax.

Alemagou's menu, whether at the beach bar or restaurant is simple Mediterranean fare with Greek influence, featuring fresh local ingredients and of course seafood. If you don't fancy peeling yourself from the sun loungers, these delicious dishes can be brought to you beachside.
I am completely obsessed with fresh grilled seafood and cannot help myself when I see grilled clams and squid on the menu.

The grilled seafood paired well with a lovely premium rose from Flassans-sur-Issole in the heart of Provence. Rumor Rosé is an elegant blend of Grenache, Cinsault, Syrah, Mourvèdre and Vermentino with a clean mouthfeel with delicate citrus and fruit notes.

Oh how I wish we could freely travel and dip our toes in the beautiful Aegean Sea right now. Until then, I shall continue to dream and longingly savour each wonderful taste of Mykonos from afar.
